Today was the first day of the Ohio State football season. We all put on our spirit wear, including Phineas who had on an OSU onesie. Since it was a fun afternoon, we all had special treats for lunch. Phineas got to try something crunchy for the first time. He had a long "cookie" made out of rice (it is similar to puffed rice and is very light, airy, and dissolves easily). He seemed to think it was okay. The jury is still out on how much he really enjoyed it, so we'll have to wait until next time.

Happy (Belated) Birthday Nana!
Phineas would like to wish Nana (his great-Nana, because she is a great Nana, making myself laugh with my own puns...) a very happy 91st birthday! He wishes he could have been there to share some cake with you. We apologize for the late wishes, but it has been quite the crazy week. He misses you lots and was so happy to take pictures for you!
Funny story to go with the pictures - We haven't had a family birthday in a while. Before, we used to give him a sign saying, "Happy Birthday" to the person. However, this proved more difficult now as he is very attracted to paper and to eating it.
Here are some pictures from when I finally got the paper far enough away that he wasn't reaching for it. He is enjoying some of the books that Nana has gotten for him in the past.
I tried laying him on his stomach, but unfortunately he was able to reach the sign...
Because he felt bad that this was posted a couple of days late for Nana's birthday, he decided to give her a present of doing something totally new! He started pushing up on his knees and holding himself in the crawling position!! He did move himself forward but only by kind of launching himself towards his desired goal. It worked though and is the first time he's done this and found a way to get himself to go forwards instead of backwards. Maybe crawling is in our near future... Good job Phin!

And there it goes, back in the mouth again. That was the end of our sign... |
He likes the little farmer that is in the book. |

9 Months Old!
Yesterday Phineas turned 9 months old! We cannot believe how time has flown or how we could love one little guy so much! We took a ton of pictures, so I'm trying hard to narrow it down for the blog. He's just so cute!
I realized that he was blowing raspberries at the beginning and so is a little drooly for some of the pics. Oops. Forgive him, he's just a cute baby. :) |
Thanks Uncle Lee for my lobster. It goes great with my crabby outfit.
Showing off his standing. (He does have to be watched extremely closely though as he just lets himself go and falls backwards if you're not right there behind him.) |

Mr. Lion
For a very long time, Mr. Lion has been Phin's favorite toy. Without fail, Mr. Lion can get him to laugh and smile. He has also started to find peek-a-boo very silly. The two combined lead to some good laughs.

Babbling
Phineas has been talking up a storm today. He tends to freeze up and stare at the camera whenever we try filming him talking. So after many tries, here's a little bit of what he had to say:
Here is also a series of pictures while he was babbling and it captured some great faces.

Walk in the Park
These pictures aren't great as they were taken with my phone. We spent a beautiful evening at the park. Had I had my nice camera with me, both the picture of the heron and the sunset would have been amazing. I guess you'll just have to take our word for it.
There was a pretty blue heron in the middle of the picture by the willows. |
Sunset that didn't turn out on a phone. |
Sofie came along for the ride today. |

Creative Uses for a Pacifier
Phineas only took a pacifier for a few weeks early on. Recently he has rediscovered them, not for sucking, however, but for chewing. His favorite part is chewing on the side.

End of Summer
This week I went back to school. To celebrate our last days of summer, we spent some time at the local park. Phineas tried out the playground. The weather was very fall-like and absolutely beautiful. Who knew that the summer would fly by so quickly!
