Monkeying Around

I tried to take some photos with Phin an his monkey tonight.  I got a few but the problem was that he kept crawling towards the camera, so I kept having to scoot back. It was a cute problem to have.

Coming towards the camera.

After I took these pictures, I went to get the cats' dinners ready and kept an eye on him from the kitchen.  I watched him crawl under his jumper and find a landmine of books!  Smart kid!  He knows what's good! :)

I know that there is some relation out there that will inevitably think we are depriving our child of books since they are all on the other side of his jumper.  Rest assured, he had several books already out that he could have looked at, he just wanted the stockpile. :)

Happy Birthday Grammy!

Phineas would like to wish his Grammy a very happy birthday!  He wishes he was there to spend it with you.  We had a beautiful afternoon outside in perfect fall weather and took some pictures for you.  I have determined that this is probably the last time we can do these pictures with a paper sign.  I think I'm going to have to invest in a chalkboard.

I tried to put the birthday sign where he wasn't going to get it.  It proved too tempting.

Sending Grammy big hugs from Chicago!

Army Crawling

And he's off!  Tonight Phineas army crawled and moved forward for the first time.  After he did it a couple of times, I jumped up and grabbed my camera to take this video.  By the end of the night he was "crawling" towards all kinds of toys that are even farther away.  He even, while up on all fours (typical crawling position), scooted one knee forward.  It was a lot of progress for one night!

Cicadas

I don't know if the cicada population has grown or if I am just noticing them more this year.  The bark on the trees outside of our  house are covered with their shells/skin.  Last night, for the first time, we got to watch one shed it's shell on our front step.  I know it is not about our sweet baby, but it was pretty cool.  If you scroll down I've also included some random shots of our little man.

He's pushing up a lot more these days!

This is him in the middle of making one of his favorite sounds where he vocalizes and waves his hand up and down against his lips to make a funny sound.

A Day in the Life of Sophie

For those of you that don't know who Sophie the Giraffe is, she is one of the most popular baby toys on the market.  We once thought she was just an overpriced, fancy "dog" toy.

However, regardless of what parents might think, she is very much loved by many, many babies and Phineas would be one of her top fans.  The special rubber that she's made out of and the unique shape of her legs and face are irresistible to chew on.  Here is a picture from early on with Sophie:

Take note of Sophie's coloring and spots.  Due to much love and chewing, Sophie looks a bit different now.  I actually she forgot she once had dark spots.  I would like you to join me in a day in the life of Sophie...
This morning I noticed that she had stowed away in the backseat.  I told her that if she was coming to work with me then she needed to buckle up.

I put her to work right away responding to emails.
(She refused to clean up the messy desk.  I'm a pile maker (runs in the family I guess) and it has been a busy start to the school year.) :)

She also took phone calls for me.
She had to use speaker phone as she was no good at holding up the receiver.

When we got home she decided it was time for a nice bath.

Phineas agreed that it was a good decision.

!

After everybody was dried off and in pajamas, it was a happy reunion and end of the day!

He chewed on Sophie's legs...

and on her ears!

What a good giraffe!

Apples

Phineas loves apples!  We have been putting slices into his little mesh pouch so that he can chew on them and get the juices and apple goodness without us having to worry about him choking on the pieces.  We're not sure if he thinks they're very tasty, or he just  likes the crunch.  Either way they're yummy!
Crunch!  Taking a big bite

Under the Bench

This picture was taken last night when I set Phineas on the floor to get his last bottle ready.  He isn't crawling yet, but he sure does know how to get around.  He rolls, squirms, and pushes his way around the floor.  Within a minute or so of putting him the middle of a blanket with toys, he was waving to me from under the bench!
